These fashion professionals often get unnoticed but they play crucial role behind the scenes.
The fashion industry is broadly divided into four categories viz design, manufacturing, marketing and promotion and retail sales.
- The design profile includes jobs such as designers, pattern makers, sketching assistants who create and revise designs and look after all components of a garment.

Also known as accessory designer or a clothing designer, fashion designer designs new accessories and garments. Pattern makers are responsible for ensuring assembling of accessories and garments by sewer and manufacturers.

A stylist is responsible to improve the overall appearance of an actor, model, or other client through styling techniques including makeup. Stylists decide overall appearance and requirement of a client to zero down styling techniques and makeup to present the desired look. They also suggest clients about the makeup that they should use to jazz up the look of garments and accessories to be presented.
The salary of a stylist depends on profile of employer, clients, skills and reputation. A stylist may be able to make significantly more than usual if he or she works for a major model or celebrity, has done course in fashion styling or fashion design, and is an industry stalwart.
The broad categories of styling are: makeup artists and personal stylists. A makeup artist specializes in the application of makeup, and a personal stylist specializes in improving an individual’s image and personality through accessories, clothing, hair styling and makeup.

Considered less glamorous, a fashion marketer creates advertising campaigns, marketing plans that an individual or company employ to sell its products. Fashion marketers are responsible for making sure that each accessory and garment is presented to the retailers or consumers in the best way possible.

- determine which age group, gender or geographical area is more likely to buy the product and collate information about target buyers,
- draft advertisements and marketing plans to showcase the best of a particular design and convince people to purchase the garment.

Also called retail salesperson or representative, they sell garments and accessories to retailers or consumers. Salespeople convince people to buy the products that an individual or a company designs.

It is the most glamorous aspect of the fashion world. They showcase and wear various garments and accessories that an individual or a company design and promote. Models are responsible for letting people see the way a specific design looks on an individual.

Seamstress or Tailor
A seamstress is a female fashion professional who makes accessories and garments and a tailor is a male fashion professional who does similar job. They are responsible for giving concrete shape to designs and patterns.

- discuss accessories, patterns and designs with customers and buyers,

Fashion photographers capture the best looks of garment, accessory and models wearing such creations.

- make folios containing the best pictures of each segment,
- explain models how they should pose for pictures; store digital copies of each picture,

Fashion Retail Manager
A fashion retail manager, or store manager, oversees the activities of a fashion store. Retail managers look after day-to-day work of people in store such as cashiers, salespeople, visual merchandiser, designers and housekeeping staff.
